Since our Open House on April 17th, requests for food aid have been growing steadily as the word has gotten out. Just over one month since then, we have helped over 23 Veterans, three with children.
The stories they tell can be heartbreaking. War injuries not treated that never healed properly, jobs lost due to deployments, difficulties adjusting back to civilian life, pensions not adequate for today’s costs, PTSD struggles, minimum wage jobs…
Yet, through it all, the vets we’ve helped are unfailingly polite, embarrassed at needing help, and so thankful. Their dignity is respected and preserved as their privacy is maintained.
This is all thanks to you, the public, who have found a way to truly ‘Support the Troops.’ You are making such a difference in these Veterans’ lives!
