What a wonderful day we had on Saturday, May 23rd, at Abele’s Greenhouse and Lawn Care Center in Saginaw! The good folks there dedicated their Memorial Day Tribute to our Food Pantry to help us replenish our shelves and raise money for the Pantry!
They donated all the proceeds of the sales of hot dogs, delicious Rosettes, drinks, flags and pinwheels to us, plus served as a food drop off location. WSGW’s Art Lewis broadcast from there all morning and let us share our story with him on the air, plus ABC TV 12 and WNEM TV 5 came out and covered us as well.
We also give a great big huge shout-out to the leaders and cadets of the Tri-City Civil Air Patrol Squadron who stood at the doors all morning long and welcomed shoppers with smiles and requests for donations (they did a stellar job, too, in the chill morning air!). This Squadron meets every Thursday at the Harry Browne Airport where our Pantry is located. (If you have children 12 and over, you should check them out!)
Abele’s will continue to accept donations and food donations for our Pantry through Monday, May 25th.
Thank you, Abele’s for remembering what Memorial Day is all about, and to all who donated and bought and came by to express support!
